A Battlefield Cross was placed at Riverton’s Veterans Memorial Park for 45-year-old Army Command Sergeant Major Kevin Griffin who was killed in the line of duty on August 8th, 2012.
In early November 2019, CSM Griffin’s memorial was vandalized (photo below) at the park located behind Riverton’s City Hall. Immediately following, community help was sought to find those responsible and to raise money for a replacement memorial.
Lander’s Eagle Bronze Foundry has completed a replacement Battlefield Cross; and on Saturday, August 8th, at 10:00 am the Riverton VFW is holding an “Angelversary” to rededicate the new memorial. Everyone is invited to attend, they shared.
The Riverton Police Department shared with County 10 today, July 31st, that there are still no suspects or leads on the vandal(s) at this time.
