Powell Homicide Suspect in Custody; Charged with 2nd Degree Murder
(Powell, Wyo.) – On Saturday, August 26th, at 4:42 AM, the Powell Police Department received a 911 phone call originating from 956 Lane 11 in Park County from a male caller stating that his “wife is dead, send the cops.” The caller then hung up. Assets from the Park County Sheriff’s Office, Powell Police Department, and Powell Hospital Ambulance were immediately dispatched.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with David Eugene Williamson, age 64, who resides at that address. Williamson was calmly sitting on the front porch. When asked what was going on, Williamson replied, “Go inside, you will see. She is in the bedroom.”
A subsequent search of the residence revealed Williamson’s wife, Shirley Williamson, age 65 lying dead on a bed in the back bedroom with an apparent gunshot wound to the right side of her head. A semi-automatic handgun was lying on the bed at her feet.
David Williamson was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder. He is currently being held in the Park County Detention Center awaiting a preliminary hearing. This case is still under investigation and no further information is available.
