Popular local bike trail to be closed by Forest Service
According to the Forest Service, the Washakie Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest has begun taking actions to close a non-system, user-built bike trail due to public safety and resource concerns. The trail, known as the Catalyst Trail (click to view map), will be closed using a variety of physical barriers.
The Shoshone National Forest has looked into a variety of ways to bring this user-created trail up to Forest Service trail standards. “This user-built trail was created without Forest Service approval; we have decided that we cannot keep this trail open due to a variety of safety issues,” says Washakie District Ranger Steve Schacht. “We will be signing the trail and using physical barriers to officially close the trail for rehabilitation efforts.”
