Pokes In The Pro’s: An update on the 11 former Wyoming Cowboys now in the NFL

Six former Cowboys saw action in Week 2 of the National Football League season, with five earning starts, including Josh Allen (Bills) and Mark Nzeocha (49ers) who both earned their first-career starts.

Allen, the seventh-overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, was named Buffalo’s starter last Wednesday after coming off the bench in Week 1. On Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, Allen completed 18-of-33 passes for 245 yards and threw his first NFL touchdown, a three-yard strike to Kelvin Benjamin. Allen also rushed eight times for 32 yards. With his start on Sunday, Allen became the first former Wyoming player to start at quarterback in an NFL game.

Eddie Yarbrough added four tackles, including three unassisted, coming off the bench as a reserve defensive end in the Bills-Chargers contest.

Nzeocha earned his first-career start for San Francisco in a 30-27 win over the Detroit Lions, as he racked up a total of three tackles. The linebacker is in his fourth season in the NFL, and his second year with the 49ers.

In a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship game, Tashaun Gipson started and recorded four tackles as his Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the New England Patriots by a score of 31-20. Jacob Hollister started for the Patriots at tight end, and caught three passes for 35 yards, including a career-long 23-yard reception.

Chase Roullier started at center and played every offensive snap for the Washington on Sunday.

Brian Hill was signed to the Atlanta Falcons active roster from the practice squad last Tuesday, but did not play in Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers.
