Lander resident Ivy Shuler served in the Air Force for 6 years as part of the Civil Engineer Squadron in Pest Control. During her service, she did 3 tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Ivy shares below what it means to her to be a veteran.
Getting to be a part of a group that was and is willing to sacrifice so much was really a cool experience. I got to see a lot of the world and experience a lot of different cultures. As a female in a male-dominant field that was really a neat opportunity to see a different aspect a lot of people don’t get to see. I got to do a lot of stuff that I never would have got to do had I not served. So, that was a really neat thing to get to have those memories.
