(Lander, WY) – Randy Mock, Jr. is on a mission to give a bicycle helmet to all 450 students at Gannett Peak Elementary. Tony’s Pizza in Lander donated a portion of their sales on Saturday as well as collected cash and helmet donations.
According to Randy’s mom, Davette Mock, they received around 150 helmets Saturday night and enough monetary donations to likely get them close to the goal.
This mission to make sure the young kiddos wear a helmet is inspired by Randy’s own experience after being in an ATV accident while not wearing a helmet.
In April 2020, Randy was a passenger on an ATV that was only traveling at about 10 mph when they hit a rut and he fell off. He was life-flighted to Utah for medical care of the traumatic brain injury that included multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds among other things.
Since then, he works to help others by educating them on the importance of wearing a helmet and also providing them with one.
“Be smart, wear your helmet,” Randy said.
If you were not able to make it to Tony’s Pizza on Saturday, you can still donate by mailing a check to P.O. Box 272, Hudson, WY 82515 or send a message to the Wyoming Boy Saving Lives One Helmet At A Time Facebook group for other ways to donate.
