There was heavy law enforcement activity in the area east of US 287 between Lower North Fork Road and Plunkett Road on Saturday, October 12th, 2019. County 10 was not provided any information from law enforcement on scene nor over the weekend.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) assisted Wind River Police Department (WRPD) with this incident and confirmed today a hit and run (vehicle vs pedestrian) took place on Plunkett Road at around 12:21 pm on Saturday.
The suspect driving the vehicle involved in the hit and run left the vehicle and fled on foot.
FCSO did not have any other information as WRPD and the FBI are the lead investigators on this incident.
The FBI did not share any information about this incident with us today.
We do not have confirmation the suspect was apprehended and we do not know the condition of the pedestrian hit by the suspect.
Unconfirmed reports from commenters on our earlier Facebook post about the incident are shared below. Law enforcement would not confirm or deny the below information.
- The suspect was running down the riverbank, running through private property and jumping fences trying to get away from law enforcement.
- The suspect was apprehended.
- The pedestrian is doing okay and is at the hospital in Casper.
