Jack Schmidt loves helping others learn about local, sustainable, nutritious food. Almost as much as he loves eating local, sustainable, nutritious food.
Schmidt has recently helped lead an effort to create the Fremont Local Food Hub. On Tuesday, the Riverton City Council approved the lease agreement for the hub to utilize the former Riverton Airport Cafe.
The building will serve as a certified kitchen for folks to wish to properly prepare their food products by USDA and FDA standards. The space also hopes to be able to sell locally made food products for locals and airport passengers.

The effort behind the Fremont Local Food Hub, movement to eat better, and boost the Wyoming food economy inspired the latest podcast produced by the 10Cast Network.
The Fremont Local Food Hub Podcast launched episode number one on Friday and features Food Sovereignty Project Coordinator at the University of Wyoming Tim McAeeter and Wyoming Food For Thought Project Executive Director Jamie Purcell.
Schmidt will host weekly updates on the local food hub, ways to eat better and locally across Wyoming, and if we’re lucky he’ll include a little cowboy poetry.
