New school zone and stop signs aim to ease Lander Middle School traffic congestion

(Lander, WY) – The Lander Police Department has issued a public service announcement to notify citizens of a new 4-way stop intersection and an updated School Zone time change on North Eighth and Jefferson Streets.

The newly erected signs were put up this week in an effort to ease the congestion around the Lander Middle School.

With cooperation from Fremont County School District #1, all of the School Zones in Lander have been updated to reflect the same time. School Zone times for every zone is between 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

In the past, a few of the zones were specific to certain times, and/or when the amber light was flashing, but now, all of the zones are consistent with the same time and equally enforceable.

LPD will continue to enforce the School Zone speed limits. Remember, the maximum School Zone speed limit is 20 MPH as per Wyoming Statute 31-5-301 (b)(i).

With the new school year underway for a couple of weeks, LPD would like to recognize and thank everyone for slowing down and paying attention to the School Zones during the busy morning and afternoon pick-up commutes.
