New Lander Police Chief announced at Thursday meeting

Thomas Shroyer was unanimously approved by the Lander City Council members at a special meeting Thursday to become the Lander Police Department’s newest Chief of Police.

Shroyer takes over after former Chief Bob Cercele announced his retirement at the end of 2018.

Shroyer has been working at LPD for the last three years as a detective. He’s originally from Missouri.

In late 2018, Mayor-elect Monte Richardson announced Shroyer as his recommendation for the new position. On Thursday night, Richardson was sworn into office along with the newly elected City Councilmembers. Each councilmember voted to approve Shroyer to the position at the meeting.

He then took his oath of office, followed by a long applause from those in attendance.

A video of the entire meeting is posted below.
