New head football coach named at Lander Valley High School
(Lander, Wyo.) – A former head football coach at Black Hills State University who coached two Wyoming State Championship teams at Gillette, two at Kemmerer and who made two state championship game appearances at Tongue River, has been named the new head coach at Lander Valley High School.
John Scott’s hiring was approved by the Fremont County School District #1 Board of Trustees on Tuesday night.
In taking over the Tigers, Scott will be facing an immense rebuilding job. According to Wyoming-Football.com, the Tigers have only won two games in the past four seasons. Scott’s high school coaching record is 91 wins and 42 losses.
Scott takes over the Lander program from John Rounds, an LVHS Business teacher, who resigned after this past football season when the Tigers went 1-7 with their only victory coming over Thermopolis. The Tigers’ next best game of this past season was a last second heartbreaking loss at Riverton on a 49-yard-field goal.
