New Fremont County School District #6 Superintendent announced last night

The Fremont County School District #6 (FCSD #6) Board met last night, March 3rd, where a unanimous decision was made to hire Troy Zickefoose, of Gillette, as the new FCSD #6 Superintendent for a 2-year term starting on July 1st, 2020.

Troy has been in some aspect of education for around 25 years and is currently the Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Professional Development for Campbell County School District #1. You can view Troy’s educational background by clicking here.

Following last night’s unanimous decision, retiring FCSD #6 Superintendent Diana Clapp congratulated the board on a “successful search process.” She has been the Superintendent of FCSD #6 for 17 years and is “looking forward to a lot of great family time” in her retirement.

After a few years of discussion, Diana’s formal retirement announcement in October 2019, was not a surprise. Her departure had been on hold until a few of the district’s significant projects and initiatives like the childcare center on campus and the Cougar Health Clinic were on their feet, she noted.

“It has been so great,” Diana said about her time as Superintendent. “This district is a fabulous place to be. I hope, in turn, they know I gave them all I had to give.”

Diana noted she might stay involved in education, but not in administration. “I would love to teach a few college courses.” In the meantime, she will enjoy time with her grandkids and plans to spend time at a cabin she and her husband purchased a few years ago.
