The Mullen Fire in the Medicine Bow National Forest west of Laramie has grown to 25,250 acres and remains only 2% contained as of the latest update today, September 25th.

The latest area closure map that was updated at 2:00 pm today, is shared below which impacts the southern Snowy Range in Albany and Carbon Counties. The closure area has been increased for both public and firefighter safety and expected fire growth, according to the update.

The Mullen Fire area closure applies to all National Forest System land, recreation sites, trails, and roads within the closure boundaries. Private landowners within the area closure boundaries should be in contact with Albany County authorities regarding pre-evacuation and evacuation notices. Once private landowners have left the area closure, they may not re-enter the area until a process is developed by Albany County and the USDA Forest Service.
