McDonald’s celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week at two Riverton schools

Owner of the Riverton and Lander McDonald’s stores, Tim Postel, couldn’t read well in early elementary school. It was attentive teachers and caring mentors that helped him reach his full potential.

Needless to say, giving back to schools and reading programs is something Tim and his team are pretty passionate about.

To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, early this week Tim and his Management Team brought lunch to teachers and staff at Trinity Lutheran and St. Margaret’s Schools in Riverton.

Trinity has 6 Full-Time teachers and 88 students in PreK through 8th Grade. 7 Full-Time teachers are employed at St. Margaret’s who teach 84 students in PreK through 5th Grade. Educators at both schools shared that, like most all teachers, they see teaching as their “calling” or “mission” not just a job.

“It’s the joy of my life. I love the ‘aha’ moments the kids have when something clicks for them. I live for those moments,” shared Sharon Whitaker, 3rd Grade teacher at St. Margaret’s.

All the teachers agreed their favorite thing about teaching is simply, “the kids.”

Tim laughed and said, “I’ve got the easy job. I feed kids and give them a place to play. You guys have a much harder job, so thank you for what you do.”
