Maverik donations help Red Cross in Ukraine

Maverik convenience stores have donated $50,000 to the Red Cross to support people affected by the Ukraine crisis.

Maverik customers are invited to donate, too, by rounding up their transactions to the nearest dollar to help provide humanitarian relief.

The “Round Up Your Change” register donation program will last through April 28.

“We’re terribly saddened by the events in Ukraine,” Maverik president Chuck Maggelet said in a press release. “Our hearts and minds are with everyone impacted by this conflict. Our customers and team members have expressed they also want to help, and we’re grateful to be able to activate this donation program allowing everyone to respond.”

People who want to give more money to the effort can donate at maverik.com/redcross starting Tuesday.

The Red Cross is currently on the ground distributing food, delivering medicine and medical supplies, assisting with evacuations, and providing shelter, Maverik said.

“Thanks to Maverik’s generous support, the global Red Cross network is helping families impacted by continued fighting in Ukraine,” American Red Cross chief development officer Anne McKeough said. “We are grateful for partners like Maverik as we work together to help provide critical humanitarian relief in response to the Ukraine crisis.”
