All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Rachelle Lynch, 21, of Fremont County, pleaded “not guilty” in District Court on November 13th, 2019, to the following two manslaughter charges “involuntarily, but recklessly” and “voluntarily, upon a sudden heat of passion.” Fremont County Attorney Patrick LeBrun confirmed during yesterday’s arraignment the two charges are “alternative.” Meaning the conviction can only be for one count, District Court Judge Marvin Tyler explained.
The charges are related to the death of 20-year-old Joshua Friday on October 8th, 2019. Last week, the Fremont County Coroner’s report confirmed Friday’s manner of death a “homicide” and cause of death as “exsanguination due to sharp force injury.” The coroner’s office explained “exsanguination” as blood loss.

During yesterday’s arraignment, Lynch’s Attorney Jonathan Gerard requested Judge Tyler to lower the bond amount and requests only a percentage of the bond to be paid. Judge Roberts of Riverton Circuit Court set Lynch’s bond at $100,000 after her preliminary hearing on October 18th, 2019. Gerard explained it is not possible to pay the $100,000 bond in full. LeBrun noted he only requested a $50,000 bond at Circuit Court, and Judge Roberts set it at $100,000. Judge Tyler has taken the bond modification under advisement, and stated the Circuit Court bond and release conditions remain in effect.
This case now moves to trial early next year. Judge Tyler did not give an exact date but said it would likely be in March 2020.
