Nearly 36 years, to the day, after an Oklahoma murder, two people were arrested in connection with the crime.
One of those people, 61-year-old Willie Moore, had been living in Riverton. On Monday, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Moore had been arrested by their department.
58-year-old Erlene Lee of Texas was also arrested in connection with the murder.
On Friday, the Oklahoma Attorney General, Mike Hunter, reported the arrests to KJRH-TV in Tulsa.
According to the Tulsa Police Department, in 1983 officers responded to a hotel room murder of a man named Anthony Baltes. Baltes was apparently the victim of a robbery before his death. Authorities reported that he had been tied up and that he sustained blunt force trauma.
The Oklahoma Attorney General cited “advances in DNA technology” as the reason authorities were able to track down the two suspects 36 years later.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
