On the afternoon of March 11th, the Riverton Police Department were dispatched to the Riverton Rails-To-Trails Bike Path, near the 200 block of North Broadway for a call about a male subject lying on the path, “wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and one shoe.”
A Riverton Police Department officer indicated the man was dead via radio shortly after his arrival to the scene.
The man was identified as 62-year-old Horace Big Medicine Jr.
According to a release from the Gillette News-Record, a Coroner’s report indicated the man died of hypothermia. Toxicology results did show that Big Medicine’s blood-alcohol level was .229 at the time of his death.
