Man dies after setting fire to camper in Cody

    The Cody Police Department has issued a statement to the media about an incident that occurred last Friday night. The incident remains under investigation.

    On Friday, November 23, 2018, at approximately 12:05 A.M., Cody Police Officers responded to the area of North Park Drive to the report of a male suspect threatening to kill himself and harm others. Upon their arrival officers made brief contact with the suspect. The suspect refused to speak with the officers and retreated into a camper located on the property. A short time later officers observed the interior of the camper was on fire. Due to the intensity of the fire, officers were unable to enter the trailer to physically remove him. The Cody Volunteer Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire and it was then officers and fire personnel located the suspect inside the camper. The suspect was transported to the West Park Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. This incident is currently under investigation by the CVFD and the Cody Police Department. No additional information is available at this time.
