    Man arrested after fleeing from traffic stop near Riverton Monday afternoon

    At approximately 3:40 p.m. Monday afternoon, Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were conducting routine patrol on Wyoming Highway 789, just south of Riverton.

    Near the 789 Smoke Shop, a trooper observed a vehicle that he believed had an expired registration. When attempting to pull the vehicle over, the driver failed to yield and increased speed. A pursuit ensued that eventually included several Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers, as well as the Riverton Police Department, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.

    According to Wyoming Highway Patrol Sergeant Jeremy Beck, the vehicle was believed to have been occupied by 3 people.

    After a brief vehicle chase, the vehicle stopped near Double Dives Rd. and the occupants fled on foot.

    A man and a woman were captured after searching for several minutes. A third person is believed to still be at large according to be Beck.

    The male driver was arrested for interference and for a Fremont County warrant. A female passenger was transported to the Riverton hospital for health reasons, she was later released from law enforcement custody.

    Wyoming Highway Patrol has not yet released details on the identities of the individuals involved. The case remains under investigation.

    Sergeant Beck did confirm to County 10 that there were no injuries with law enforcement or bystanders.
