    The National Weather Service has issued a “Winter Storm Watch” for all of Fremont County and the majority of the state.

    …Major Winter Storm Possible Sunday Afternoon through Monday Night…

    A cold front will pull south into northern Wyoming Sunday morning. This cold front will surge southward to the Continental Divide by around sunset Sunday, and then across southwest Wyoming Sunday night. The precipitation is expected to occur in the wake of the cold front, and could take a few hours after frontal passage until the snow develops. This storm system will move slowly, with snow lingering through Monday night. The heaviest snowfall looks to occur Sunday night and Monday morning in most locations.

    * WHERE…Wind River Mountains, Wind River Basin, and Green Mountains and Rattlesnake Range.

    * WHEN…From Sunday evening through late Monday night.

    * SNOW AMOUNTS…4 to 8 inches in the lower elevations, except 10 to 14 inches in the Lander Foothills. 12 to 24 inches on the eastern slopes of the Wind River Mountains with 6 to 12 inches on the western slopes.

    * IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult.

    * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Forecasted snow amounts will likely change as the storm system gets closer and details become clearer. This will likely be the heaviest snowfall since Thanksgiving.
