(Lander, WY) – The first annual Dash for Dreams Bike, Walk, or Run 5K/10K took place in Lander City Park on Saturday, June 26th.
Formerly the Tour de Wish, Dash for Dreams was put on by the Lander Valley High School student council as a fundraising/community event for Make A Wish Wyoming. Make A Wish was the nationally chosen charity that student councils across the country chose to donate to this year.
The event raised $445 in its first year, and student council advisor and LVHS Assistant Principal Hillary Reisig aims to someday see the event raise enough funds to pay for a Wish in its entirety.
According to Reisig, this can cost between $6,000-$8,000.
At Saturday’s event, participants had the choice to run, bike, or walk, and either do a 5K or 10K.
In addition to the race, there were snacks, sidewalk chalk fun, and yard games.
Event organizers wanted to thank Safeway for donating water, popsicles, and oranges, as well as Fremont Toyota for their past support including water bottle donations.
Be on the lookout for future Dash for Dreams events so the LVHS Student Council can reach their goal of paying for a child’s Wish in full!
