(Laramie, Wyo.) – The Lander Nordic Ski teams compete in their first race of the 2018 State Championships this afternoon in Laramie. Both the boys and girls ski teams have been finishing in the top positions in their meets leading up to state, and look to take home state titles this weekend.
The Lander girls ski team is the second most decorated sports team in LVHS history, after the boys swim team, and they hope to add another top finish to their collection. Strong team leaders Molly Fehringer, Emilee Robins, and Ursula Anderson have been consistent top 10 finishers all year, and are supported by a deep team of ladies that provide the depth necessary to take home top honors.
On the boys team Noah Gans vies for individual wins in the two races, with Silas Goetz and Zane Sandall right on his tail. Freshman Kaleb Simonson is a fast freshman with a handful of top 10 finishes in the past few races who hopes to continue to excel at this meet.
Both teams face stiff competition from Natrona County, Jackson, and Laramie ski teams. They compete in a five kilometer skate race today and a ten kilometer classic race tomorrow. Results and race information can be found here: https://www.snowyoming.org/wyoming-high-school-state.html
