(Lander, WY) – The Lander Girls Swimming and Diving Team hosted two meets last week, a triple dual meet on October 7th against Riverton and Rawlins, and the Jackson Scramble on October 9th.
The Tigers ended up winning against both Riverton and Rawlins, with Katelyn Brinda and Annabelle Nachazel completing their qualifying times and earning their green parkas to wear at future meets this year.
Brinda and Nachazel will be sporting the green parkas along with ten of their teammates who have already qualified. Several other athletes hope to soon join the green parka ranks as well, in order to earn the right to compete for the Tigers at the State Meet in November.
Six senior Lander team members were also honored at Saturday’s meet against Jackson, including: Jessica Baron, Irene Remoli-Candel, Ashlon Koch, Asha Reid, KayKay Sandall, Carly Shultz, and Katrina Winn.
Other top results from Thursday’s meet included first place finishes from: Lara Robertson (200 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle), Asha Reid (200 yard IM), Ashlon Koch (50 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke), Divya Forbis (diving), Katelyn Brinda (500 yard freestyle), and Lainy Duncan (100 yard breaststroke).
In Saturday’s Scramble, half of the Lander team and half of the Jackson team joined forces to compete as the “Green” team, going against the “Orange” team, made up of their remaining team members.
The Orange team came out on top over the Green team in that meet, and top finishers from Lander were: Lara Robertson (200 yard freestyle), Ashlon Koch (100 yard butterfly and 100 yard backstroke), Lainy Duncan (100 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke), and Annabelle Nachazel (500 yard freestyle).
The Tigers take to the road this week with meets in Buffalo and Gillette, practicing up before the Conference meet on October 22nd and 23rd in Pinedale.
