The meet featured a championship format with prelims on Friday and top finishers competing again in finals on Saturday.

The athletes will face this type of structure at the state meet later this season, where they will have to put forth a great effort on the first day to make finals, and then be able to quickly recover to go all out the second day.

Making A finals (those who make the top six in the preliminary rounds) for Lander were:

    • Lara Robertson (200 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle)
    • Emily Anderson (200 yard IM and 500 yard freestyle)
    • Lainy Duncan (50 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke)
    • Ashlon Koch (100 yard butterfly and 100 yard backstroke)
    • Asha Reid (100 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke)
    • Katelyn Brinda (100 yard freestyle).

Lander divers Sophie Shearin and Divya Forbis also earned points for the team.

Additional points were scored by those in the B finals: Annabelle Nachazel, Charlotte Schell, Arianna Applegate, Maddie Flint, Sharon McMahon, Tenley Reisig, Kelsey Plaisted, Divya Forbis, and KayKay Sandall.

Head coach Shawna Morgan was excited about all the personal best times that the swimmers put forth, stating, “All the hard work the team is putting in with their early morning and after school practices must be paying off.”

Fans can view some of that effort this coming weekend as the girls host Riverton, Rawlins, Douglas and Rock Springs on Friday, September 24th at the Bruce Gresly Aquatic Center at 4 PM.
