LPD investigating threat at Lander Middle School

The following was released to County 10 by the Lander Police Department. We’ll update if more details become available.

The Lander Police Department is currently investigating a threat made by a student of Lander Middle School. At this time there is no danger to the school, students or staff.  Below is the exact email that was sent from LMS to the parents.

Lander Middle School received a Safe2Tell tip today about a student making threatening remarks. We are investigating that tip fully and will take appropriate disciplinary measures with those involved. In our commitment to providing a safe environment for our students, please know that LMS takes school safety very seriously and investigates fully all reports, tips and Safe2Tell messages.  These messages are also forwarded to the appropriate Law Enforcement Agency.

We encourage our parents, students, and community to continue to report any unsafe behavior or anything that makes them feel uncomfortable.  The information we receive from our LMS community is an invaluable piece to ensuring that our students are able to learn in a safe environment.
