(Fremont County, WY) – Current Chief Deputy for the Fremont County Coroner’s Office Erin Ivie has issued the following statement in regards to her intentions to run for the Coroner position.
“I am writing to officially announce my candidacy for Fremont County Coroner. It has been my honor to serve the people of Fremont County and the Wind River Reservation for the past 20 years as a deputy coroner and chief deputy, and it is my sincere hope to continue this calling well into the future as your elected coroner.
“My roots here run deep as I have been a Fremont County resident since childhood. My late husband and I chose to raise our two children in an environment filled with faith, love, and family that this community offers. We have been so very blessed by doing so.
“An extremely meaningful extension of support in this campaign has been the endorsements of the three people who most recently held the post and know the level of dedication this position requires: former Coroners Edward McAuslan and Mark Stratmoen, and current Coroner Larry R. DeGraw.
“I am also deeply honored to have earned the support of our local medical communities, law enforcement partners, fire departments and EMS personnel, tribal affiliates, and most importantly, the families in our community that I have had the privilege of working with during the most difficult times of their lives.
“These endorsements, I would venture, are a testament to my work ethic, investigative abilities, teaching efforts, and compassion.
“As a Republican, and a taxpayer, fiscal responsibility is of the utmost importance to me. In addition to my duties as chief deputy, I currently serve as the administrative officer for the Fremont County Coroner’s Office, a position I have held for the past 7 years.
“Budgeting and payroll are an essential part of this assignment and I have worked diligently to reduce costs while still providing the best service to the community. In order to keep costs down, as your elected coroner, it is my intention to work with Lander, WY resident, Dr. Randall Frost, Board Certified Forensic Pathologist, to conduct autopsies locally. Dr. Frost is a valuable asset and his work unparalleled.
“He unequivocally endorses my candidacy and I look forward to bringing this service back to Fremont County.
