Local COVID-19 cases increase to 20; over 400 folks are estimated to be self-isolating

Below is the March 28th update from the Fremont County Incident Management Team:

State statistics – Fremont county tested positive for COVID-19 –  20 – as of 3PM

    • 10 cases in Lander related to Showboat
    • 9 cases in Ethete with origins traced to Showboat
    • 1 case in Riverton unrelated to other cases and unknown origin

Due to the reporting we are receiving from the local clinics, doctors, and Sagewest Health Care, we now have confirmation that people are being directed to self-isolate in Lander, Riverton, Ethete, Fort Washakie, Shoshoni, and Dubois.  The disease is active in the community. We support the extended Governor’s orders and urge everyone to continue to self-isolate.  If you meet with people, stay 6 feet apart and in groups smaller than 10.

The data we are collecting is manual and reporting is difficult for all while also dealing with the virus.  We still estimate over 400 individuals in Fremont County have been directed by a health professional to self-isolate. Many clinics are closed for the weekend.
