(Lander, WY) – For the past 5 years, the Lander Middle School (LMS) Counseling Department has provided a little Christmas help to parents by putting together an Angel Tree.
Parents complete a short questionnaire about their children’s clothing sizes, likes, and needs, LMS gathered the information and put it on a tree in the school lobby, where it is then opened up to parents, students, teachers and the public to shop for these children.
“It is truly amazing to see how excited LMS students get when they know they are helping out a fellow student in their school,” LMS Guidance Counselor Cristina Jensen commented.
This year LMS helped 90 children ages 2 months to 18 years old.
“Our community is amazing and went so far to get our older kids gas cards, while the younger ones were showered in toys,” Jensen added.
“Our Angels who shopped for these children ranged from students, FCSD#1 central staff, teachers (from all four schools!), and some who had their small children help pick out gifts for kids their age.
“We had some stand-out supporters who took multiple kids and bought not only essentials like shampoo and toothbrushes, but also clothes, gift cards, shoes, sleds, hockey sticks, and entire bedding sets.”
Angel Tree contributors included:
-The Orchard Church -bought for 30 kids
-Boyle Electric – bought for 10 kids
-Game and Fish – bought for 4 kids
“Thank you to our Lander community for making our Angel Tree successful each year!”
