Lander’s Pioneer Days Parade returns July 4th

(Lander, WY) – Get ready for Lander’s Pioneer Days Parade celebration down Main Street starting at 10 am on July 4th. After a 2020 hiatus due to the pandemic, the parade committee is excited to bring this longstanding tradition back this year.

Entries are still being accepted and must stick to the old west historical theme. Don’t forget that music, dancing and drama are encouraged on the floats. Click here to view and download the entry form. Top entries will receive monetary awards.

“For parade entries this year, thanks to the support of our community businesses, we are able to award $250 to the top entry in each of our categories,” the Lander Pioneer Days Parade Committee shared with County 10.

“We are luckily able to award the top parade entry with a $500 ‘Best of Show’ award! We are able to provide this award thanks to Householder Properties, Wind River Hotel & Casino and the Wyoming Catholic College.”

A special guest in the parade this year is the 67th Army Band. Head on over to City Park after the parade to hear more from the band during the Lander Rotary Club 4th of July Buffalo BBQ.

The tradition of the traveling bronze boot trophy is also continuing this year. The trophy is awarded to the best patriotic decorated storefront.

“We ask businesses in the community to decorate their storefronts about two to one week out from the fourth,” the committee explained. “We then vote on and choose the best-decorated business. They get the privilege of housing the bronze boot in their business for the year, while also getting their name engraved and added to the trophy. Central Bank & Trust currently has the boot!”
