#LanderBiz: Bakery, clothing consignment store opens on Main Street

#landerbiz, brought to you by the Lander Chamber of Commerce, shares the stories of the local movers and shakers of our Fremont County economy.

(Lander, WY) – A new clothing consignment store has opened at 605 Main Street, and in the very near future, the bakery portion will open as well.

Sweet Seconds might be an unlikely business combination, however, it all comes down to family, explained owner Lindsey Hornecker.

She and her children moved back to her hometown of Lander in October and for the past four-ish years has wanted to open a family-owned and operated business.

Moving to Lander made the possibility of opening a business a reality, Lindsey shared. There was not a set plan on what the business would be, so she turned to her children for ideas.

Shopping at thrift and consignment stores has always been a bonding thing for Lindsey and her daughter; a fun way for them to hang out together and rotate their wardrobes.

Noticing there are only a few consignment and thrift options compared to where they previously lived, her daughter wanted that to be the business. So they got to work on opening a consignment store.

In February, the idea of adding a bakery to the store was put out there, Lindsey shared. Baking had been a side business for several years, and since COVID hit last year it became more full-time after losing her job.

Sweet Seconds will carry her custom cinnamon rolls and gourmet cupcakes; both of which are unique and like nothing else found locally, according to Lindsey. Other items like coffee, protein shakes, and non-coffee energy drinks among others are going to be offered. There will be options and alternatives for everybody based on their diet and needs including gluten-free.

The consignment portion of the store has been in a soft opening phase since the end of April, and they hope to have the bakery open in early June.

They are currently taking all men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and clothing accessories (i.e., shoes, pursues, belts, hats, gloves, etc…) for either consignment or donation. While all clothing is being accepted, items like scrubs, plus sizes and men’s clothing are in need at the store.

Consignment customers receive 50% of the final sale price for an in-store credit or 40% of the final sale price in cash or check.

Store hours are currently Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, but that will change once the bakery is open.
