Lander Veteran announces bid for House District 54

    Announcement provided by the candidate:

Kevin Wilson has officially announced his bid for a seat in the Wyoming Legislature for House District 54, which encompasses most of Lander. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy submarine service, Kevin currently works as a Registered Nurse for Sage West.

Service to others has been the bedrock of his professional career in the Navy, government, non-profit, and healthcare fields. It is this same commitment to service, and the lack of leadership on issues affecting working class families like this own, that prompted Kevin to run. “We have seen during this Covid crisis what people like me have been saying for a long time: Our essential workers deserve a pay raise, our education system is vital, everyone should have affordable and accessible health care coverage, and we need to diversify our economy and find new revenue streams for our essential state services.”

Kevin highlights his work in outdoor recreation, conservation, and the healthcare field as especially relevant to the issues facing Lander today. “We have a community that attracts people because of our unparalleled landscapes, I have fought to preserve them. As a nurse, I see people all the time who fall through the cracks of our healthcare system, I want to extend healthcare coverage to as many people as possible.”

Kevin says he understands that he faces an uphill battle going up against incumbent Lloyd Larsen but he is ready for the challenge. “My plan is to talk to everyone in the community, I figure if I can talk to everyone, not just the corporate interests who seem to run our politics now, we might be able to get a new voice and some new ideas in the legislature.”
