Lander Valley High School’s Tyler Roberts named FCSD #1 Teacher of the Year

(Lander, WY) – Lander Valley High School (LVHS) Language Arts teacher Tyler ‘Ty’ Roberts was recently announced as the recipient of the Fremont County School District #1 Teacher of the Year award.

The other nominees included Sharon Terhune, Josie Hulkovich, Marissa Powell, and Ely Sixbey.

The 2020/2021 school year was Roberts’ first year teaching at LVHS, but he had previously worked in the district at Lander Middle School (LMS) for 4 years, also as a Language Arts teacher.

“I loved every moment of working at the middle school,” Roberts stated, later referencing “how amazing it is reaping the benefits,” of seeing former students going on to high school and graduating in his new position.

While the recognition was “completely unexpected,” Roberts was also nominated as Teacher of the Year during his time at LMS.

Roberts then went on to give thanks to the mentorship he received from fellow LVHS Language Arts teacher Heather Babb, and the ongoing support from Principal Brad Neuendorf.

“I just want to say how privileged I feel to be a part of this district,” Roberts commented. “The only thing better than working with my co-workers, staff, and administration, is the kids we serve.”
