Lander Valley Farmers Market is spicing things up! Stop by Saturday for jalapenos & more

A big thank you to our sponsor Wyoming Community Bank for bringing you this content.

Come to Lander City Park this Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. to peruse and purchase local produce, products, and art at the Lander Valley Farmers Market.

Among this week’s tasty and artistic finds will be honey, lavender, goat milk, goat cheese, and goat milk soap. Do you like things a little spicy? Pick up some jalapeños and try this refreshing and mildly spicy lemonade.

    Jalapeño Lemonade
    (makes about 8 cups)

    For jalapeño sugar syrup:
1 jalapeño, cut into 4 pieces (remove seeds for a milder lemonade)
    1 cup water
    1 cup sugar
    1/8 teaspoon salt

    Other ingredients:
1 cup lemon juice (juice of about 6 large lemons), strained
    6 cups water

Place the chopped jalapeño and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil. Continue boiling until about half the water has evaporated, about 2 minutes. Then add sugar and salt and stir. Reduce heat to low, and simmer until sugar has dissolved about 2 minutes. Let the syrup cool for about 5 minutes.

Place a strainer over a pitcher. Pour the jalapeño sugar syrup, lemon juice, and 6 cups water through the strainer into the pitcher. Stir well. Serve chilled over ice cubes.

For tequila spiked jalapeño lemonade (yep, you read that right): follow the recipe above, but instead of 6 cups water use 5 cups water + 1/2 cup tequila. Serve on ice.

Do you want to get involved with the market? LVFM is seeking two volunteers per week to help out. It’s a really fun way to spend a Saturday morning. For more information, or to sign up, visit Lander Connected at https://app.vomo.org/project/5ed5131bcb413.
