Lander soccer squads fall to Cody on Tiger’s Senior Night

(Fremont County, WY) – Lander Valley High School hosted its final home game and it was not going to be easy. LVHS hosted Cody Thursday after a couple close games the last time these two teams met.

Lander’s girls were looking to avoid a season sweep while the boys were looking to sweep the season series.

For the Lady Tigers, it would be a tough physical game between the top-ranked teams in Class 3A. However, they would not be able to overcome Cody as they fell to them for a second time this season 3-1.

Lander boys had their senior night celebration, which honored Trey Laird, Sam Welsh, Zachary Bingman, and Kellon Donahue, Ben Hamilton, Jaden Elliot, Tieson Race, and Joesph Hellyer.

In the second half, trailing 2-1, the Tigers had what appeared to be a game-tying goal, but it would eventually be ruled a “no-score” due to the ball hitting the football field goal post before entering the net. Cody escaped with a 2-1 win.

Lander will be on the road to conclude their season against Mountain View. The state tournament is May 19 through May 21 in Cheyenne.
