    #Smiles: Lander skiers take 2nd at State Championship; 9 named All-State athletes

    A series to share #smiles across our community through the achievements of our local youth, brought to you by Olsen Orthodontics.

    (Lander, WY) – The Lander Valley High School Nordic Ski Teams wrapped up their season on Casper Mountain this weekend. Both teams came in 2nd overall at the 2021 State Championship.

    LVHS shared the following details from the weekend:

    WHSAA State Champion Kaleb Simonson won both the Classic and Skate races. Otus Beason finished ninth in the 5k on Friday, while freshmen teammates Bennett Hutchinson 5th, and Diego Lobatos 6th, joined him in the top 10 on Saturday. 

    In the girls, 5K Kaylynn Sandall finished 3rd, Kate Wilmot 4th, Anni Wilmot 5th, and Shayla Babits 6th for top ten finishes on Friday. Freshman Anni Wilmot led the Tigers on Saturday with a third-place finish, with Kate Wilmot in 8th, and Kaylynn Sandall finishing 9th.

    State Championship results for the top 3 teams:

    Girls Team – Jackson 262, Lander 236, Natrona County 155

    Boys Team – Jackson 263, Lander 230, Natrona County 139


    On Sunday, the Wyoming Coaches’ Association announced this season’s top ten boys and top ten girls named All-State athletes. This selection is based on the season’s race point totals.

    Below are the Lander All-State Nordic Skiers named All-State Athletes.
