    Lander Rural Fire responded to over 250 calls last year

    (Milford, WY) – The Lander Rural Fire Department shared today, January 28th that they responded to 254 paged alarms in 2020. This is an increase of 81 calls compared to 2019 and an increase of 28 compared to 2018.

    Accounting for the majority of calls last year, 91 to be exact, were wildland fires. Good intention/hazardous conditions calls came in second – these included gas leaks, carbon monoxide, downed power lines, fire alarms, and canceled en route.

    The complete 2020 call breakdown is as follows:

    • 21 Structure Fires (including chimney fires)
    • 65 Motor Vehicle Crashes
    • 91 Wildland Fires
    • 13 Vehicle Fires
    • 69 Good Intent/Hazardous Conditions

    Tom Sparks was named Firefighter of the Year for 2020. “We appreciate his continued dedication to the community and the department.”
