Lander Rural Fire recognizes two past Fire Chiefs

Fremont County Fire Protection District’s Battalion 3 (Lander Rural Fire) would like to thank Past Chief Nick Johnson for his 5 years of dedicated service as Battalion Chief of Lander Rural Fire.  Throughout his 5 years of service as chief, Johnson responded to 934 paged alarms and spent 1,563 documented hours serving the residents and visitors of Fremont County with professionalism and pride.  Much of Johnson’s success as chief is directly correlated to the tremendous support of his loving wife, Carrie, and their two beautiful daughters.  The members of Battalion 3 are grateful for the numerous sacrifices made by the entire Johnson family and continue to appreciate all that they do to serve our community.  We are confident that Past Chief Nick Johnson’s outstanding leadership in the fire service has prepared the new board of Lander Rural Fire officers for their respective roles within the battalion and community at large, particularly our newly-elected Battalion Chief, Trent Jones, and Assistant Chief, Chris Johnson.

Wrapping up 2019 specifically, Lander Rural Fire responded to 173 paged alarms and dedicated over 2,256 hours of service to the community.  Calls for service in 2019 included 17 structure fires, 45 grass fires, 54 motor vehicle accidents, and 57 miscellaneous calls for service (fire and carbon monoxide alarms, gas leaks, vehicle fires, electrical hazards, dumpster fires, etc.).

At their annual banquet in January, Lander Rural Fire was pleased to have recognized Past Chief Hyle Miller as their 2019 Fireman of the Year.  Miller went on to receive the prestigious Speed Hartbank Award at the 2019 Fremont County Fire Protection District banquet held in Riverton in February.  Miller’s selfless dedication to Wyoming’s fire service and to his community throughout his 34-year long volunteer career is unparalleled, and the members of Battalion 3 would like to express their sincerest gratitude for his continued service.
