The Lander Rotary Club has been busy volunteering and raising money for local nonprofits this summer. Today, September 24th, the Lander Community Foundation and the Lander Care and Share Food Bank were each presented checks in the amount of $2,625 in hopes of providing small business relief as well as food aid to families in need.
“During times like this, the Lander Rotary Club is needed now, more than ever,” Lander Rotary President John Brown said. “It is our firm commitment to the Lander community that prompted us to raise money and to seek additional funding for this project in the form of a grant from our local Rotary district to help with providing financial aid to mitigate some of the effects that COVID-19 has had on our town.”
Lander Rotarians in attendance at the check presentation today at Lander’s Centennial Park include: President John Brown, Ron Fossen, Jen Peterson, Jerry and Cassy Venters, Ernie Over, and MJ Greene. Accepting the check on behalf of the Lander Care and Share Food Bank was Director Audrey Krise, and accepting the check on behalf of the Lander Community Foundation was Executive Director MJ Greene.
“This is a golden opportunity for service clubs like ours to step up and make the biggest difference when it matters most,” Brown continued. “The Lander Rotary Club will always fulfill its motto by providing Service Above Self to our community.”
Earlier this summer, Lander Rotary was able to donate bison meat to the Shoshone Food Distribution program in Fort Washakie and the Lander Care and Share Food Bank. Click here to read our earlier post.
