Lander Mayor Del McOmie signed a proclamation Tuesday at the Lander City Council meeting, announcing that October was to be observed as “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” in Lander.
McOmie explained that domestic violence is an issue that we should be focused on resolving in the community and that the “Equality State” must continue to protect and restore the rights of all victims of crimes.
October is regarded nationally as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused in the United States. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of some form of violence.
