In the wake of current Lander Police Department Chief Bob Cercle’s upcoming retirement, a search has taken place for his replacement over the last several weeks.
Lander Mayor-elect Monte Richardson and other Lander city officials began the interview process with a handful of qualified applicants.
LPD announced this week, that Richardson has nominated Thomas Shroyer for the position.
Shroyer is currently a detective with LPD. The Missouri-native has been in Lander for the last 3 years.
Despite an earlier report, Lander City Councilman Cade Maestas reminded County 10 that the nomination is still pending City Council approval. Maestas said the council will vote for the position in January per state statue. He continued, “few appointment recommendations face opposition, but the process is clear and set.”
