(Lander, WY) – The Lander City Council convened for a special meeting and work session last night, Tuesday, December 28th.
The following coverage reflects agenda items from the special meeting portion of the evening, with work session coverage forthcoming.
Resolution 1232 was approved which authorized the submission of a FEMA building resilient infrastructure and communities grant, for relocation and acquisition of residential structures in the floodplain.
This resolution is a requirement of Federal grant application process, where the Council has to show their approval for assigning a project manager and potential funding, should the grant award be approved.
HDR was awarded the contract by the Council last fall, where it was made known that 70% of this project will be FEMA funded, and 30% Council funded.
The resolution was moved to be approved by Council Member Melinda Cox and seconded by Council Member Missy White.
Mayor Monte Richardson was also authorized to sign a grant application for new radios for the Lander Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD), in the amount of $202,598.07.
This is an American Firefighters, federal grant that will replace all the radios needed (35 portables and seven mobiles), for the fire department.
The fire department will be responsible for 5% of the cost, a little over $10,000.
The motion was moved to be approved by Council Member White and seconded by Council Member Cox.
Mayor Richardson was also authorized to sign a Planning and Design Services Agreement with the Erdman Company, for the Table Mountain Living Community preliminary architectural report for USDA grant application.
This design services agreement will formalize what Erdman has been doing for free for the last 18 months, according to Assistant Mayor RaJean Strube Fossen, and now that the grant application will move forward, Erdman will be reimbursed for those expenses and the City will now begin being billed for services.
The motion was moved to be approved by Council Member John Larsen and seconded by Council Member Julia Stuble.
