Lander Children’s Museum seeks community input

(Lander, WY) – The Lander Children’s Museum (LCM) has served the community for over 20 years, and they are excited to embark on a new year. They hope to provide exciting and engaging exhibits and programming, as well as at their Little Curious Minds preschool.

In response to COVID challenges, the museum has been closed since March. However, they have their sights set on opening in the summer. In the meantime, memberships and STEAM (science-technology-engineering-art-math) kits are available to be checked out for one week at a time. They are offering over 20 at-home activity kits catering to a variety of ages.

To view the list and photos of the kits available, click here. Call (307) 332-1341 or email [email protected] to reserve a kit for your family. The kits are sanitized between check-outs and can be picked up curbside.

Non-members can also check out the kits for $15 each. With a $60 LCM membership, the kit check-outs are FREE! For an additional $15 ($75 total) an ASTC membership is available. This membership allows admission to most museums across the nation, in addition to our museum here in Lander.

In order to continue meeting the needs of the families in our community, LCM is asking the community to take a moment to answer the questions and give your suggestions. The brief survey can be completed here, on social media, or on their website. The data gathered will be used to expand and rebrand the Lander Children’s Museum to meet community needs. Completing the survey makes you eligible for a $25 Lander Buck certificate.

With the offerings of Lander Parks and Recreation programs in question, LCM hopes to provide a fun place for kids to play and learn. Additionally, LCM is an attraction for tourists visiting our mountains, attending our sporting events, and enjoying all our town has to offer.

Please help shape our vision by completing the needs assessment survey, and help us expand and rebrand by getting involved with the Lander Children’s Museum.

Little Curious Minds, the preschool housed within the museum at 465 Lincoln Street, is now offering a full-day program thanks to the generous funding provided by the LOR Foundation.

Little Curious Minds focuses on kindergarten readiness and is rich with developmentally appropriate, hands-on, engaging activities. Preschool hours are 7:30 am to 5:15 pm, with a half-day option available. The preschool will continue operating through the summer, and enrollment for the 2021-22 school year is now open.
