Lander Chamber highlights 2021 Spirit of Lander Award winner

(Lander, WY) — The Lander Chamber of Commerce has released the latest video in its 2021 Community Awards Video Series, highlighting Spirit of Lander Award winner Kendall Hayford.

“You have to wonder sometimes whether Kendall is actually two people given how many organizations he’s involved with,” said Lander Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Owen Sweeney. “From the Lander Economic Development Association to the Museum of the American West to Rotary to the Lander Ambassadors to Lander United to the Boy Scouts, and most recently Lander Presents, it’s amazing that Kendall finds any time to sleep. I’m tired just going through the list!”

Even considering all of the above, it was Mr. Hayford’s leadership as Lander Branch President of Wyoming Community Bank during COVID that led to his being awarded the Spirit of Lander Award. Hayford served as the key community leader assisting businesses to obtain emergency CARES Act funding and selflessly training other financial institutions to process PPP and Wyoming Business Council emergency financial programs.


“It really is an honor; I’m very humbled to receive it and to have been nominated for it,” said Hayford of the Chamber’s annual award that recognizes that Lander resident who ignites enthusiasm through participation. “This really is for the community, the way we rose above the adversity faced in the pandemic.”

“It’s really been a pleasure getting to know Kendall,” said Sweeney. “When I began at the Chamber I heard so much about him and how well-liked he was by so many in the community. Having worked with him now on several projects, I can see why he’s so respected. He’s a true gem of the Lander community.”
