    Lander business owner faces voyeurism felony charge

    All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    (Lander, WY) – It was reported on Thursday, June 17th, that the Fremont County Attorney’s Office had filed a charge against Dudley Irvine, owner of the Anytime Fitness gym in Lander, for allegedly video recording women without their knowing.

    According to Circuit Court documents filed June 21st, Irvine faces a felony charge for voyeurism, which is punishable by imprisonment of up to 5 years, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.

    The document states that Irvine, “On or between April 8th, through June 16th, without the consent of the person being viewed, attempted to look in a clandestine, surreptitious, prying, or secretive nature into an enclosed area where the person being viewed had a reasonable expectation of privacy, including but not limited to a restroom, a shower, or a dressing room, and attempted to knowingly or intentionally capture an image of that person by means of a camera a video or any other image recording device.”

    An affidavit filed on June 17th, states that an Anytime Fitness gym member came to the Lander Police Department to report finding a “covert recording device that was plugged into an electrical outlet facing the shower within the women’s locker room.”

    The gym member then alleged seeing this device numerous times since joining in February, and that the device was “disguised to look like a wall plug for a USB charger.”

    According to the affidavit, “upon closer inspection, the device was discovered to have video recording capabilities, as well as an external storage device which was inserted into the recording device.”

    It is also stated in the affidavit that on June 16th, a Lander Detective conducted a non-custodial interview of Irvine at his residence.

    During this interview, Irvine reportedly “admitted to installing this covert video recording device with the intent of capturing videos of ‘women when they got out of the shower.’”

    Irvine’s initial appearance hearing was held Wednesday, June 23rd, and there will be a preliminary hearing at a yet to be determined date.
