    Lander boys and girls both qualify for 3A state basketball tournament

    Both the Lander Valley High School girls and boys are headed to next week’s state 3A championship basketball games after qualifying at regionals this weekend in Lyman.

    The LVHS boys beat Pinedale 73-41 Thursday, Big Piney 71-58 Friday, then fell in the 3A West regional championship to Worland 81-73. Lander has played Worland three times now, the Warriors taking 2 of 3.

    Lander’s girls fell Thursday to Pinedale 43-35, but bounced back to beat Powell 47-18 Friday and Worland 60-48 on Saturday. In the added third place game Saturday afternoon, LVHS cruised past Pinedale 42-16.

    The Lady Tigers open state play Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against Rawlins.

    The Lander boys draw Wheatland at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Both Lander games Thursday will be played at the Casper Events Center.
