Lady Chiefs claim 2A West regional basketball championship

(Riverton, WY) – The Wyoming Indian Lady Chiefs began their quest for a 2A State Championship 3-peat by claiming the top spot at the 2A West Regional this weekend and earning a number one seed to the state tournament.

The Lady Chiefs began play February 4th. That meant most other 2A teams had two more months of practice, two more months of games, and nearly 5 months of more “in-person” classroom time.

It didn’t seem to bug the WIHS ladies much, they started the regular season going 4-1, only stumbling in a tough loss to Lovell.

The Lady Chiefs knocked off St. Stephens, Big Piney and Rocky Mountain in regional action.

They’ll open with the east’s 4 seed, Pine Bluffs, at state. That quarterfinal match-up is Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the Ford Events Center (Formerly Casper Events Center.)
