Kansas man dies in I-80 rollover Monday

(Albany County, WY) – A Kansas man lost his life in a fatal vehicle rollover on I-80 on the morning of Thursday, August 30th, according to a Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) preliminary report.

Brian Lewis, 44, has been identified as the driver.

Lewis was headed eastbound on I-80 in a passenger van in the right lane near mile marker 324, when the van exited the roadway to the right.

Lewis reportedly overcorrected back onto the road to the left, which caused the vehicle to “enter a broadside passenger side leading slide.”

The van then tipped and rolled multiple times, coming to a rest on the passenger side off the road on the shoulder.

No possible contributing factors to the crash are known at this point, but the report states that no seatbelt was in use.

This is the 74th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021, compared to 85 in 2020, 107 in 2019, and 69 in 2018 to date.
