Juvenile, 18-year-old charged after reportedly assaulting 60-year-old man in Riverton

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

(Riverton, WY) – 18-year-old Fort Washakie resident Talon Papse and an unnamed 16-year-old Riverton juvenile were arrested following a reported incident occurring on May 24, according to the Riverton Police Department call log issued on May 27.

RPD received a call at 9:30 PM reporting that the 60-year-old maintenance worker of a Riverton apartment building was assaulted after he confronted four individuals in the parking lot, who, “appeared to be trying to gain entry into vehicles,” the log states.

The individuals reportedly refused to leave and became confrontational, at which point one of the subjects pushed the victim to the ground from behind, and another started to kick him in the head and upper body.

The log goes on to state that the assailants then stole a bottle of soda and a pack of cigarettes from the victim and fled the area.

The victim’s face was reportedly “swollen and showed abrasions as a result of the assault.”

Officers later saw several subjects in the area that matched the victim’s given description, and soon caught and arrested Papse and the juvenile after a reported foot chase.

The log states that they were both charged with MUI, that affidavits have been prepared charging both with strong armed robbery, and that the investigation continues.

County 10 will provide updates as they become available.
