    July 16th crash near Cody involving motorcycle results in 1 death

    (Cody, WY) – The Wyoming Highway Patrol has released the following information regarding a fatal crash occurring on the evening of Friday, July 16th, just south of Cody, WY.

    On July 16, 2021, a fatal crash occurred around milepost 5 on WY-291 south of Cody, Wyoming.  At 8:01 p.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were notified of a motor vehicle collision.

    A sedan was traveling west on WY-291 approaching a motorcycle stopped in traffic attempting to make a left turn. The driver of the sedan was driving into the sun and failed to see the stopped motorcycle. The sedan collided with the back of the motorcycle, causing the driver to be thrown from the bike.

    The driver of the sedan has been identified as 18-year-old Cody, Wyoming resident Megan E. McCann. McCann was wearing a seatbelt and not injured in the crash.

    The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as 61-year-old Cody, Wyoming resident Daniel M. Tudor. Tudor was not wearing a helmet and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.   

    This is the 52nd fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 59 in 2020, 92 in 2019, and 56 in 2018 to date.
